AWL Player Rankings – Week 1 (ESPN-Style)
Week 1 is in the books, and early separation is already forming. These rankings reflect Week 1 performance, impact on wins, and team context.
1. Garner Collum – Lakeview Lightning ⬆️⬆️
Week 1 Stats: 5 RBI, 6 IP, 0 ER, 2–0, 2 QS, 0.00 ERA
Team: Lakeview Lightning (2–0)
Why:
Garner was the league in Week 1. He powered Lakeview offensively and dominated on the mound, throwing 6 scoreless innings while driving in 5 runs. No one else touched his two-way impact.
Tier: Week 1 MVP / League driver
2. Hudson Saville – Hillside Hornets ⬇️
Week 1 Stats: 1 RBI, 11 IP, 9 ER, 1 QS, 2.45 ERA
Team: Hillside Hornets (1–3)
Why:
Hudson carried a massive workload and still pitched well enough to keep games close. Defensive mistakes and lack of run support hurt his record, not his value.
Tier: Proven ace under pressure
3. Alistair Higgins – Coastal Cavaliers
Week 1 Stats: 5 IP, 0 ER, 1–0, 1 QS
Team: Coastal Cavaliers (1–1)
Why:
Alistair stepped in and delivered exactly what Coastal needed: scoreless innings and stability. Not flashy, but extremely effective.
Tier: Reliable two-way stabilizer
4. Thomas Franklin – Coastal Cavaliers ⬆️
Week 1 Stats: 2 RBI, 1 HR, FR 10
Team: Coastal Cavaliers (1–1)
Why:
Thomas delivered Coastal’s biggest offensive moment with a home run and paired it with elite fielding. His impact went beyond the stat line.
Tier: Impact bat + elite glove
5. Hayes Sutton – Lakeview Lightning
Week 1 Stats: FR 8
Team: Lakeview Lightning (2–0)
Why:
Hayes didn’t contribute a whole lot at the plate, but his defense stood out on a first-place team. Plate discipline needs work, but the glove already plays.
Tier: Defense-first contributor
6. Baxter Higgins – Hillside Hornets ⬆️
Week 1 Stats: 2 RBI, FR 3
Team: Hillside Hornets (1–3)
Why:
Baxter provided actual run production for a struggling offense, driving in two runs. His gold glove caliber defense was not there today though. While Hillside lacked consistency overall, his contributions mattered more than Noah’s this week.
Tier: Flashes without rhythm
7. Noah Saville – Lakeview Lightning ⬇️
Week 1 Stats: 1 RBI, FR 5
Team: Lakeview Lightning (2–0)
Why:
Noah drove in a run but struggled with pitch selection and contact quality. On a team carried by Garner, Noah’s Week 1 impact was limited.
Tier: Secondary piece on a top team
8. Windsor Higgins – Coastal Cavaliers ⬆️
Week 1 Stats: 1 RBI, 1 IP, 3 ER, 9.00 ERA
Team: Coastal Cavaliers (1–1)
Why:
While he tossed a scorelss first inning, the 2nd inning on the mound didn’t go well and he was pulled before recording an out. Windsor at least contributed an RBI. The production was small, but it edges him ahead of Levi for now.
Tier: Bounce-back candidate
9. Levi Saville – Hillside Hornets ⬇️
Week 1 Stats: FR 7
Team: Hillside Hornets (1–3)
Why:
Levi made contact and fielded cleanly, but the results weren’t there. Everything went right except where the ball landed.
Tier: Solid process, limited results
