AWL Week 1 Power Rankings
⁃ Brendon Discher
1. Lakeview Lightning⚡️ Record: 4-0 Last week: 1
The Lakeview Lightning showed a weaker side on offense this week, but Garner continued to shut thing down, pitching another 6 scoreless innings. This offsense this week was like a 2025 Los Angeles Dodgers lineup; powered by solo home runs. Noah hit one, then Garner hit two. Noah also had another RBI on a base hit. The meme of the week is when Noah struck out to Windsor and was ripped out by Garner. Then Garner followed it up striking out 4 times to Windsor. The Lightning continue their dominance though, and look to tack on more in week 3.
2. Hillside Hornets 🐝 Record: 2-4 Last week: 2
The Hillside Hornets struggled at the plate, but that didn't hurt as much as last week, with Hudson throwing 6 scoreless innings and 0 earned runs today. The runs they did give up were unearned as the runner began on base to start extras. Baxter capped off their dub with a walkoff 2-RBI hit. Fielding was much improved as well as Baxter made some good plays. The Hornets are now sitting in 3rd place, but only by a 3 run difference.
3. Coastal Cavaliers 🗡️ Record: 2-4 Last week: 3
The Coastal Cavaliers struggled against Hudson once again, and they did against Garner as well. They left runners in scoring position too much. The fielding was good, and the pitching was too. Windsor Higgins was the highlight of the day with 3 RBI's and a quality start (QS). Windsor also made the Silver Slugger favorite, Garner Collum, look absolutely silly striking him out 4 times. The Cavaliers need to hit the ball more as well. This season though, 3 teams of 3 has overall depressed offenses and has shown that pitching matters.
